Boomerang Kindergarten
Since December 2013 Acacia Namibia is supporting the project `Boomerang Kindergarten´ in Katutura.
Katutura
Boomerang KindergartenKatutura `the place where we don’t want to live´ is the township of Windhoek where the black people were relocated during the apartheid. Most of the people are living in shacks and are working as domestic workers. Therefore they have no time to take care of their kids and often they do not have money for sending their children to a kindergarten.
The history of the `Boomerang Kindergarten´
Dietlind, owner of Acacia Namibia, held a garage sale at her house in October 2013 and got a phone call from Memory who was asking for some cheap toys for the planned kindergarten. Dietlind liked the idea of the kindergarten, gave a real good price for the toys she planned to sell and a few weeks later she met Memory and her family at their house in Goreangab. It was decided that Acacia Namibia would support the project. Plans were made to add another room to the house where the children can be accommodated. During christmas time 2013 the whole family built together and the dream of a kindergarten came true.
Our aim
It is important for the future that the kindergarten can be financed by donations. But also the parents have to pay regularly a small amount. Together with you, Memory and the kids our aim is to create a place in Katutura where the kids can enjoy a peaceful childhood. Memory takes care or about 20 kids and in the afternoon the schoolkids are coming to do their homework.

Graduation & christmas party 2015
On Saturday, 28 November 2015 Boomerang Kindergarten had its graduation ceremony and Christmas party. Certificates were handed over to 8 children who will be starting school next year.
In January the Kindergarten will be moving to bigger premises nearby where there is more space for the kids to run and play. All this is only possible with the generous support of our guests and we want to take the opportunity to say thank you again for your support and donations.
Boomerang Kindergarten works in cooperation with StepsforChildren, a Foundation under the leadership of Michael Hoppe and based in Hamburg, Germany. They support a few projects in Namibia.
