The Namibian summer lasts from October to March with day temperatures easily reaching 35°C and more. The nights are normally below 20°C. Winter time is from April to September with day temperatures between 20 and 25°C but at night it can get well below 0°C. The rainy season is from February to April. If it is raining at all, the mostly heavy showers only last for a few minutes. In Namibia the sun is shining on more than 300 days per year!
Leisure wear, mainly cotton, would be most suitable for Namibia. But dont forget a windbreaker and warm jersey for the evenings and when visiting the coast.
Comfortable hiking shoes, sandals and a pair for better occasions should be fine.
Remember sunglasses, a hat , swimming costume, suntan lotion, camera and binoculars.
Namibia can be visited the whole year round, but the most pleasant times would be September/October or March/April
Foreign visitors to Namibia must be in possession of a valid passport. Visitors from the United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland and Austria do not need a visa if they are in possession of a valid return air ticket for the continuation or return of their journey and if they are not staying in Namibia for more than 90 days.
Visitors who want to rent a vehicle must be in possession of an international drivers license. The excess for the vehicle must be guaranteed by credit card.
At the moment no vaccinations are prescribed but it is recommendable that visitors do have hepatitis A and B vaccinations. Malaria prophylaxis is recommended between October and March. Please consult your doctor or pharmacy for more details.
